The Nature Around Me

Pleasently Random

Keeping Love

I wrapped my heart in a plastic box
Protecting it from the world around
Didn’t want it to get scratched
Used up, broken or torn
People came to steal my heart
But I blocked it just in time

Then one day I took a break
From protecting my heart
And in that time someone stole it
They took my heart and ripped it to pieces
Threw it in the air and left
And it blew away in the wind

I tried to gather up the pieces
But a few I never could find
Placing it in that plastic box
I locked it up tight
And threw away the key
No one would ever have my heart again

Years later someone came
Clutching the key to my plastic box
He came and I fended him off
But he was patient and waited
Soon I got used to him and let him closer
He asked if he could look into my box

I was cautious and only let him look
But soon I was handing him my heart
Just to get a good look
Showed him the holes and told him
How I couldn’t find the pieces
And they I would never again be whole

Then he pulled something out of his pocket

It was the missing pieces
He placed them in my heart
And it was like brand new
He looked at the finished product
And handed it back to me
I looked at it, there were no signs that it had been broken
He started to walk away but I stopped him
He turned around and I gave him my heart
